Chris Hughes partied at NTAs bar with pals until early hours after ‘violent brawl’ with snapper

Chris Hughes was soaking up his girlfriend Jesy Nelson’s success at the bar of the National Television Awards after getting into a brawl with a snapper.

The former Love Island star filmed himself back at London’s O2 Arena at the red after-party bar, joined by two of his mates.

Footage shared on Instagram suggests Chris was still at the bar at 3.30am – at least two hours after getting embroiled in a scuffle with a paparazzo, which is now being investigated by police.

However, there was no sign of his girlfriend Jesy Nelson.

One of the friends at the bar – his manager, Chris Drake – was forced to step in to pull his client away from the cameraman, who was accused of calling Chris a “c***” before the TV star appeared to throw a punch.

Chris called Chris Drake and his other management pal Jim Erwood “my 2 favourite humans” as he showed them all sitting by the bar with drinks in front of them after the incident.

Hours earlier, Chris had wept tears of pride for Jesy as she walked up on stage to collect her NTA for best serial programme for her BBC documentary Odd One Out.

She broke down in tears as she thanked Chris for “giving me confidence” while brandishing her golden gong.

Chris also got emotional as he applauded her from the audience.

But the shine was taken off her win after she and Chris returned to their nearby room at the Intercontinental hotel in Greenwich to change outfits.

Jesy, who had started off the night in a glamorous red satin halterneck floor-length dress, emerged from the hotel wearing khaki leather trousers and a matching crop top.

Chris, who had come out before her, was still in his tuxedo from his red carpet walk, although it looked worse for wear with his bowtie undone.

Chris and the bearded snapper were then caught on camera in a violent scuffle, with Chris appearing to throw a punch towards him.

He also angrily jabbed his finger in the pap’s face and was seen shouting at him.

At one point both men had their hands on each other and were grappling.

Chris’ manager then stepped in to pull him away, and used his body as a barrier to prevent Chris from returning to the fray.

Metropolitan Police has confirmed to Mirror Online that the incident is being investigated after a complaint of assault and criminal damage was received.
