David Platt will be forced to face his rape ordeal once again on next week’s Coronation Street .
In next Friday’s hour-long episode, David stands up in court during the trial of rapist Josh Tucker.
But this time he does not have Shona Ramsey for support, as his wife is lying brain dead in hospital after being shot during Derek’s gun rampage.
As Josh’s trial begins, David has bigger problems on his mind as he faces becoming a widower for a second time.
David nervously takes to the stand and painful memories start to resurface from his traumatic exeperience.
When asked how they first met, David says: “He worked on the street where I live and I signed up for this charity boxing event he organised. We became good mates.
“We had a laugh. And my older brother had moved away from the area so I guess I needed a mate.
“He worked on the street, similar sort of age, seems natural for us to knock about. But I had no idea he was grooming me.”
David comes face-to-face with Josh for the first time since the prison riot.
The barber actually tried to save Josh from his fellow inmates, but the spiteful rapist told police that David was the one who stabbed him.
Discussing the night he was raped, David says: “I can’t really tell you a lot because I don’t remember it all.
“It seemed like any other night, but it wasn’t as he spiked my drink and I don’t remember a lot after that. It’s a bit of a blur. Thank god.”
When asked what he remembers next, David replies: “Waking up in his bed after he raped me.”
Taking to Twitter , one viewer said: “I hope that David Platt finally gets justice. I know it would be unrealistic coz not all rape reports are justified, but David really needs proper closure with this and Josh deserves to be locked up and have the key thrown away!”
It remains to be seen whether David will get justice.
But it will not be at the forefront of his mind as Shona may never wake up again.
David burst into tears on Friday night’s episode when doctors revealed his wife’s devastating diagnosis.
He was told that Shona had little to no brain activity and was warned to prepare for the worst as she may never wake up again.
