EastEnders bad boy Ben Mitchell might suffer as a result of his deadly actions, with him tipped to struggle mentally with what he’s done.
Ben, the son of Phil Mitchell, ordered the murder of Keanu Taylor on Christmas Day over his fling with Phil’s wife Sharon.
He, Phil and sister Louise – the partner and baby mama of Keanu – plotted their revenge, before Ben blackmailed Martin Fowler into killing him.
What the Mitchells do not know is Martin didn’t actually kill him, and he’s still alive and on the run.
But to Ben, he’s a killer who was responsible for the death of a young man.
While he’s acted as though the murder hasn’t bothered him, soap boss Kate Oates has hinted this is not the case.
Teasing the impact on his mind and him as a person in upcoming scenes, Kate said to Mirror Online at a recent press event for the soap: “What is the impact of what happens this Christmas on Ben’s psyche?
“Ben is now responsible for the death of someone else and how is that gonna play out? There’s lots to look out for.”
So is Ben headed for a downward spiral, and will he soon regret his plans for Keanu?
It comes after scenes in a recent episode, that saw Ben out drinking all night after the death, and after his split from boyfriend Callum Highway.
Lola Pearce was concerned for her pal, who was still drunk after the night before.
He claimed he was fine, but fans saw straight through it and feared he could end up facing the same struggles as his father.
One fan tweeted: “Ben is clearly channelling Phil & is already starting to spiral.. the cracks are forming & it’s obvious he’s regretting his involvement..”
Another agreed: “Ok… I think I understand where #EastEnders is going with Ben… I think what he said tonight in Ian’s kitchen is very telling. He’s clearly struggling with his involvement in Keanu’s “death”. Hopefully this is the start of the redemption arc we’ve been hoping for.”
EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
