Hollyoaks fans were heartbroken on Monday night, as they feared Tony Hutchinson had been killed off for the second time.
Tony was stabbed with a pitchfork by serial killer Breda McQueen during special late-night spin-off Hollyoaks Later.
As she carried out her plan to burn down the farm, having just locked Mercedes McQueen in the cage at the farm alongside Tony, events spiralled out of control.
Tony tried to launch himself at killer Breda, after she vowed to let both her prisoners die.
But he was stabbed, for the second time in a matter of months, and left to bleed to death in the cage – while Breda went on to attack her own son, before burning down the cottage they were in.
Just months ago Tony was knifed by Breda after he worked out she was the killer behind the deaths of villagers, including his own son Harry Thompson.
Viewers were led to believe he had died, but the soap legend soon rocked up as a prisoner at the abandoned farm.
Mercedes finally found him alive in the new special episode, only to be attacked and held prisoner with him.
It’s then that Tony was ambushed, and he began to bleed out in Mercedes’ arms.
She tried to keep him awake, but he began to lose consciousness leaving her in turmoil.
At one point she begged for him to wake up fearing he was dead, and even after he was saved by Goldie McQueen it wasn’t looking good.
Goldie appeared to struggle to find a pulse with him not breathing either, by the looks of it.
As she left him to go save her brother and Mercedes she said sorry to a lifeless Tony, with fans fearing the worst.
John Paul soon showed up with the police and as paramedics tended to him, he didn’t move or wake up.
As the credits rolled after Breda’s own demise, it looked as though the character may have lost his life – with viewers fearing he was really dead this time.
Hollyoaks continues weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with the next episode at 7pm on E4.
