Louise Redknapp has opened up about her new album’s most powerful songs.
The songstress, 45, hinted that Heavy Love’s more heartfelt, emotional tunes found inspiration in the aftermath of her split from ex-husband Jamie.
The pair announced they were calling time on their marriage back in 2017, having tied the knot in 1998.
They share two sons, 15 year old Charley and 11 year old Beau.
Louise, who rocketed to fame as part of girlband Eternal, told the Mirror: “As a songwriter, you can only write what you’re feeling and what’s going on in your life.
“It’s well documented that it’s been a tough few years for me. I tried to be as honest as I could without hurting anyone else.”
The recently released Heavy Love contains heartbreaking tracks such as Breaking Back Together and Hurt.
Her latest work hasn’t been a solo venture, though, as she told how Charley and Beau had a hand in her latest offering.
Louise continued: “The kids are great – they’re involved in everything I do.
“I’d never do anything that they were uncomfortable with. Every song I wrote, good or bad, I ran by them.”
Louise was performing last night at the Gatsby Gala at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, an event in aid of Prematurity Research at Imperial College London.
Taking to the stage, the blonde beauty belted out some of her freshest hits, before telling the crowd that she was giving them a throwback with some hits from her Eternal days.
She had the guests getting up from their seats and dancing as she sang tunes from her career with Eternal.
“I’m actually gonna go back,” she told the venue, “To the old school days for anyone that remembers Eternal.”
Heavy Love isn’t the first time she’s suggested her “heartbreak” has had an influence on her art.
In a candid new year post, she penned: “I don’t often open up on social media but tonight seems like a good time to.
“Creatively this year has been my best yet writing and recording my new album and performing in the west end, but emotionally it has been my toughest year and I’ve faced challenges I never thought I would.
“Heartbreak is a killer so I want to thank my boys, my family, my friends and all of you who have been kind over the last 12 months.”
