Alex Jones had a chaotic return to the One Show tonight after finishing her maternity leave.
As she made her TV comeback after taking some time off to welcome second son Kit, Alex admitted she was feeling ‘out of practise’ and ‘really nervous.’
The 42-year-old mum even went as far to say she was going to rely on co-host Paddy to take the reigns of the BBC One show for the evening.
Her on air confession prompted Paddy to wave goodbye at the camera and ‘walk off’.
Alex told him: “I feel really nervous though it’s been eight months.
“It’s been lovely with Kit and Teddy I do feel like, I don’t know, it’s like the first time ever I’ve done it.”
Paddy then said her admission was giving him the jitters.
He told her: “Well you see that’s quite nervous to me because I was actually hoping that you would come and everything would be completely fine.”
Alex quipped back: “Sorry to burst your bubble but I’m out of practice.”
The mum, who was rocking a sassy cropped bob hairdo, said she would probably be OK, but that wasn’t enough for Paddy.
“That’s OK, goodnight,” he said before walking off and leaving Alex to it.
But the prankster soon returned so they could continue as a pair.
Later on during the broadcast, Alex revealed that her husband Charlie was looking after her two young sons while she was back on the telly.
She described Charlie as ‘brilliant’ and said they would be splitting the parenting duties now they were both at work.
While Alex was clearly delighted to be back, things won’t stay the same for too long as her long-term co-host Matt Baker will soon be leaving.
Matt announced in December his plans to quit the show after nine years.
He told viewers: “I’ve loved that The One Show has been such a big part of my life for the last nine years.
“It’s been brilliant to showcase the eclectic mix of Britain, meet incredible people along the way and witness so many lives changed with the annual Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need.
“I’d like to thank all those I’ve worked with over the years and especially you the viewer for showing me so much support during my time on the green sofa.”
