Paul Hollywood has confirmed he is dating pub landlady Melissa Spalding – following months of speculation over the nature of their relationship.
It is believed Paul fell for Melissa after growing close to her after spending time at her pub, The Chequers Inn, in Smarten, Kent – a short distance from Paul’s countryside home.
The pair are believed to have spent Christmas Day together – and a spokesperson for the pair has since confirmed the pair are now an item and building a romantic relationship together.
“They are very happily together,” a spokesperson for the Bake Off star told the Daily Mail on Sunday.
Christmas Day doesn’t sound terribly romantic, however, as a source close to the pair said: “Melissa was pulling pints and cleaning tables on Christmas Day so they didn’t get to spend much time together, but they are away now.”
Paul and Melissa’s romance first came to attention in September when ex-girlfriend Summer furiously accused the Channel 4 star of enjoying a romance with the pub landlady.
“Summer has a lot to say on the matter but is trying to keep her powder dry,” a source told The Sun at the time.
“Paul insists that there was no crossover and he is just mates with Melissa and has been previous to his split from Summer,” the source added.
Paul and Summer’s own romance came to an explosive end in August when the barmaid walked out on the TV star after he confronted her with a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
According to reports, Summer took issue with a clause in the NDA which would have prevented her from discussing her relationship with Paul, if she had agreed to sign it.
Prior to their bust up, Paul and Summer’s romance was put under strain when his ex-wife, Alexandra Hollywood, hit out at Summer when they crossed paths.
The argument made headlines with allegations Alex called Summer a “slut” and a “whore”, leading to police becoming involved in the romantic triangle as Alex declared she was innocent and accused Summer of harassment.
